Follow the High Street through town

Haverhill's shopping centre follows the High Street and Queen Street, with Market Hill giving you another point to work into a town-centre visit. It is a useful place to combine everyday errands, a specialist purchase and a stop for lunch rather than making separate trips.

Start with the shop you need, then take time to walk the rest of the centre. Our shops and retail listings offer a starting point for local businesses; there is more to a shopping visit than the first familiar store you recognise.

Glasswells for furniture and home choices

Glasswells at 55 High Street is a local independent home-furnishing store. Its Haverhill branch offers furniture, beds, flooring and fabrics for made-to-measure curtains, making it a useful stop when a home project calls for seeing materials or discussing options in person.

For a larger purchase, bring the measurements or room information you need and ask about the service you are considering. A planned visit can help you compare choices properly before making a decision, rather than judging everything from a photograph.

Come on Friday or Saturday for the market

Haverhill's regular market days are Friday and Saturday. They add stalls to the shopping day and give you a reason to bring a bag, look at what is available and combine market purchases with a visit to the permanent shops.

West Suffolk Markets also advertises Haverhill makers markets and other events. Use its current programme if you are looking for a particular type of stall; seasonal and specialist markets should not be confused with the weekly trading days.

Make room for food and the Arts Centre

A cafe or lunch stop makes a useful break during a longer browse. Our food and drink category helps you find local options, whether you want a quick coffee or somewhere to sit down after shopping.

Haverhill Arts Centre, in the former Town Hall, is another reason to stay in the centre. Look at its programme if you would like to combine a daytime visit with a film, performance or event; use the venue's own details for tickets and opening arrangements.

Plan a practical town-centre visit

Choose your arrival point around the stops you actually want to make. West Suffolk Council provides current parking information, and individual shops can advise on deliveries, collecting a bulky purchase or access to their premises.

If you are visiting for a particular retailer, check its hours before travelling. For a general browse, a market day followed by lunch and a walk along the High Street is a straightforward way to get to know Haverhill's shopping offer.
